Try It ALL!

If you're struggling with staying consistent in staying active, try it all.  Here's Why!

Yoga, cycling, swimming, weightlifting, Pickleball, karate or team sports.  Try it all!

Explore Variety: Test out different forms of exercise— keeps things interesting and helps you find what clicks. Experiment with different activities until you find something that truly interests you and what you enjoy. This is a great way to start creating a habit of maintaining a consistent active routine.

Once you discover what excites you, tailor your workouts to fit that activity to stay safe and injury-free. Here's how:

  1. Make it Fun: Engage in activities you enjoy, whether it’s dancing, hiking, yoga, CrossFit, or something else. When exercise feels fun, it’s much easier to stick with it.

  2. Start Small: Begin with shorter, manageable activities. Even 10 minutes a day is progress. Gradually increase the duration as it becomes part of your routine.

  3. Set Realistic Goals: Set specific, achievable goals that fit your lifestyle. Whether it’s walking 5,000 steps daily or exercising 3 times a week, make sure it’s attainable.

  4. Focus on Form: Once you’ve found your favorite activity, prioritize learning proper technique. Whether it's lifting weights or playing tennis, good form prevents injury and maximizes performance.

  5. Progress Gradually: Avoid jumping into high-intensity workouts right away. Build up slowly to give your body time to adapt and avoid overuse injuries.

  6. Schedule Workouts: Treat your workouts like important appointments. Block off time in your calendar and make exercise non-negotiable.

  7. Track Your Progress: Use a fitness app or journal to record your activities. Seeing your progress over time can boost motivation to keep going.

  8. Join a Community: Get involved in a health or fitness community. Being surrounded by like-minded people can offer support and encouragement.

  9. Focus on Why It Matters: Constantly remind yourself why you want to stay active. Whether it’s for better health, more energy, or mental well-being, keeping your “why” front and center can help you stay focused.

Lastly, change the way you talk to yourself. internal dialogue is super important.  Replace negative self-talk like "I’m lazy" or "I’m weak" with positive affirmations such as "I am strong" and "I am healthy."

Staying active should be enjoyable, and personalizing your routine to match what you love can keep you motivated, safe, and pain-free! Eventually, you’ll experience the benefits of regular activity and realize how essential it is.

Remember, the overall goal is to stay active because being active is just as important as sleep, nutrition, and mental health for a long and healthy pain free life.

In Good health,
